The Training Philosophy Behind Innate

Ever trained at home, in classes or in a gym and felt like you’re doing plenty but not really getting anywhere? One week you’re full of drive, the next you’re improvising your way through a session and hoping it counts for something. At Innate, the aim is to give you a steady, grounded way of training that feels good, makes sense and actually moves you forward. And even on those low-energy days when motivation isn’t quite there, you’ve still got a process to follow, a programme that keeps you moving in the right direction and a rhythm you can trust.

We keep things simple for a reason. Everything starts with controlled, low-impact movements that build strength through full ranges of motion, ease stiffness, protect your joints and help you feel more capable day to day. Alongside that, I help you settle on a clear direction, whether that’s following a structured programme or gradually working towards strength in a specific movement, because once you know where you’re going, the whole thing feels calmer, clearer and much easier to stick with. And low impact doesn’t mean soft; the intensity grows with you, so progress feels steady, natural and sustainable rather than punishing.

There’s a bit of a philosophy underneath all of this, shaped by old-school strength principles from the bronze and silver era over a century ago and carried forward into the modern world. Strength built patiently tends to last, and training should add to your life rather than drain it. When you approach it with consistency and a clear mind, you grow stronger in a way that feels grounded, realistic and genuinely empowering.

Our method blends strength training with classic bodybuilding principles, the fundamentals done properly. Most people who say they want to tone up, look athletic or build lean muscle are really describing this style of training without even realising it. You learn the movement, practise it, get stronger, gradually increase reps or weight, and over time your body adapts. It’s clear, reliable and designed for progress that sticks.
